Trinchera de Ideas: Rematriation Conversations were inspired by the Puerto Rico Trench and named after a quote by Cuban Liberationist José Martí: “Trincheras de ideas valen más que trincheras de piedras” (Trenches of ideas are worth more than trenches of rocks). The series was born from the “Studio Session” interviews that Yasmín Hernández has with different folks on the Rematriation journey, in preparation for the portraits series. Recognizing that some of the themes and lessons discussed would repeat across interviews, it became apparent that these conversations needed to expand into collective dialogues for exchanging ideas, deepening our rematriation practice and growing community. Since 2023 the Trincheras have run as an in-person series at CucubaNacíon in Mayagüez (Yasmin’s art space). In 2026 the series expanded to include virtual sessions.

Upcoming Trincheras, both in person and virtual, will be posted on this page and on the @RematriatingBoriken pages on IG and FB. Occasionally, independent videos will be posted like the one below. Trinchera de Ideas: Conversaciones sobre la Rematriación se inspiran en la Trinchera de Puerto Rico y una cita por el libertador cubano José Martí: “Trincheras de ideas valen más que trincheras de piedras.” La serie nació de las entrevistas que Yasmín Hernández hace con personas sobre sus procesos de rematriación. Como surgian los mismos temas de conversación a conversación, era necesario expandir a dialogar en colectivo y así intercambiar ideas, profundizar nuestra práctica de la rematriación y crecer nuestra comunidad. Desde 2023 las Trincheras han sido una serie presencial en CucubaNación en Mayagüez (estudio de arte de Yasmín). En 2026 la serie expandió a incluir sesiones virtuales. Algunos de los temas que se han explorado en las Trincheras son: La Muerte; Rematriación y la Liberación Boricua; Del Abismo al Monte (con Ketsia Camacho Ramos); La Cuenca/ Agua Dulce (con Thalya Parrilla), y más.
Próximas Trincheras, presenciales y virtuales, serán promocionadas en esta página y en los pérfiles de @RematriatingBoriken en IG y FB. Ocasionalmente, videos individuales serán posteados como el que aparece abajo en ingles.
